In honor of the contributions of its former President, the official name of their new administrative offices is CENTER FOR VETERANS ISSUES LTD., RETIRED BRIG. GEN. ROBERT A. COCROFT, VETERANS RESOURCE CENTER was announced during the organization’s 30TH-anniversary celebration at Milwaukee’s Pfister Hotel.
“I’m happy that they recognized his efforts. Robert was devoted to helping veterans and persistent in advocating for their health and wellbeing throughout his career. It was truly his passion,” said the General’s wife, Jacqueline Cocroft. The new offices will open in 2020. |

Retired Brig Gen. Robert Cocroft was one of the founders of the Center for Veterans Issues (CVI) in Milwaukee, one of Wisconsin’s largest private providers of transitional housing and support services for veterans and their families, during the time of his death following a short illness in September 2018. He also served as the deputy secretary for the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs from 1994 to 2002.
Through their combined efforts, Vietnam vets Robert A. Cocroft along with Thomas Wynn, and Willie Sims established the National Association for Black Veterans, Inc. (NABVETS) in 1973 to provide strategic advocacy with Congress, the federal administration, state and local legislators. NABVETS currently has over 80 chapters throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. It is a certified claims representative for vets with the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. |
