The Covid-19 pandemic deprives us of our usual connections — giving hugs, spending time with family and friends, shopping, working outside of the home, and attending worship services. We find ourselves struggling with “shelter at home” orders, wearing masks and gloves while maintaining the recommended six feet social distance from others. We are feeling isolated, lonely, and physically disconnected as never before.
The Bible tells the story of a woman with a blood disease that caused her to bleed and social distance from everyone for 12 long years. It’s one of the miracles of Jesus described in the Gospels. Her condition only worsened after seeking help from many physicians. Her funds were exhausted. As a result of being alone and separated from worship, she was losing hope and become desperate. Hearing of the healing power of Jesus, she pressed her way through the crowd to touch the hem of His garment.
Mark 5:25-34 Jesus restored her physically and spiritually. He said, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” Just like this woman, we can also find hope and healing in Him.
During this time of social distancing, allow the light of ‘The Son’ shine brightly in our lives. Let His love be reflected in our attitude and actions.
Take this time and opportunity to re-connect and re-establish a ‘right’ relationship with our Savior, Jesus.
