“There are concerns about working with COVID-19 patients,” explained Karina Brown, RN, President of the Milwaukee Chapter of the National Association of Black Nurses. Continuing, she emphasized,“This is what we are called to do, and the moment for which our profession was created. We’re also supporting front-line staff thru prayers and access to mental health resources to make sure they are ok.”
Officers of the organization are Laronda Joyner, Vice President; Brianna Kimmons, 2nd Vice President; Melanie Gray, Treasurer; Pamela Reed, Secretary; and Jasmine Tucker, Board Member At Large.
Since 1980, the Milwaukee Chapter of the NBNA has committed its efforts to advance and promote a diverse nursing workforce through education, professional development, and community service. Over the years, their fundraising efforts have resulted in awards totaling more than a half-million dollars in scholarships to nursing students pursuing professional license RNs and LPNs.
